New 'Ryedale Rover' due to launch in October

Ryedale Community Transport are launching the new transport service called the Ryedale Rover. This will be running using a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV).

This service will transport its passengers into Norton and Malton so they can carry out their shopping and errands or catch up with friends for lunch etc. A letter drop has been undertaken in the villages which invites residents to travel FREE OF CHARGE for the first month, to encourage use of the service provide the opportunity for RCT to iron out any issues that may arise.

RCT split Ryedale into 8 zones so that the service can be implemented gradually. Each area will be named by a colour and the first area to trial the service is the green zone which covers;

Acklam | Birdsall | Burythorpe | Eddlethorpe | Firby | Howsham | Kennythorpe | Langton |Leavening | Leppington | Scrayingham | Thixendale | Westow

When the green zone is fully up and running RCT will then letter drop in the next zone until the service is up and running across the whole of the District! Also, RCT will be transferring from a diesel WAV vehicle to an electric custom built WAV. This will be the first of this type in Ryedale. The cost of the vehicle is £67,500 and RCT are just £10,000 from their target, so they are actively looking for funding to complete the purchase.

.

The launch date is Monday 4th October 2021
